katrina relief fund

We are gathering funds for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.  We will be sending supplies and have found a source of emergency flashlights and medical kits.  To donate to this effort, denote 'Katrina' on your donation.  More details to come.

There are so many non-profit foundations out there, it's hard to know which ones to support. Morningstar Foundation has a difference that you may find attractive:

• We hope to focus on results - not on fund raising, so you may not hear a lot about us in the media.

• We want to empower the people in the area to keep up the work we help start.

• We have a strong desire to see people set free to provide for their family. Like the old saying, we do not just want to give someone a fish, we want to teach them to fish.

• We want to provide a venue for average people to be able to join us in the adventure, and feel the joy of having God minister through them.

To accomplish these ideals we have come up with some interesting ways to fund projects. Some projects we want to see become "ever green" or self sustaining. Other projects we want to see funded by businesses that have dedicated their profits. Other times we just give money to a project that someone else is already running.
